NEW FILM: supporting small businesses, families and the Nepalese new year

Damian is filmed at the Community centre in Hawkinge where he joined the Folkestone Nepalese community for their new year celebrations. Previously that morning he had been in Folkestone town centre to meet with shoppers, traders and local businesses.

I'm on your side

This is a copy of the advert that has appeared in the Folkestone Herald this morning which sets out some of the issues that I think are important in this campaign. Let me know what you think. I've also included the text again below. "If you think people who work hard, and play by the […]

NEW FILM: Damian gets general election campaign underway

The General Election date has at last been announced for 6th May 2010. Watch Damian's film, recorded in Elham, just before the start of the offical election campaign. We will be uploading films recorded throughout the campaign to this blog. You can also sign up to Damian's facebook group to follow the campaign.

General Election 2010

The General Election date has now been confirmed for 6th May, and the choice could not be clearer. The re-election of Gordon Brown’s government - with more debt, waste and taxes - will bring us a new recession. For the last 13 years working people have seen their taxes go up and up and their […]

I was particularly pleased to hear […]

Budget blow for tourism and local business

Labour today delivered their last budget before the general election, which offered just more of the same debt, taxes, and waste that have got the economy into the terrible mess its in. But the budget also confirms that a new tax blow for local tourism businesses will come into force on 5th April this year. […]

film: people shouldn't be forced to sell their home to pay for care

My new campaign film discusses the issue of people being forced to sell their homes to pay for residential care late in life, and also Labour's plans to charge a new 'death tax'. The Conservatives are proposing a new Government backed insurance scheme which would allow people to protect themselves from this, and also protect […]

My agenda for local businesses

I have posted below an article I have written for a new magazine which was published this week. The magazine called The Progressive Conscience has been launched by the new political group, Bright Blue. I have used the article to set out my thoughts on how we could promote local business and help our struggling […]
