Lord Coe has rebuffed a request from MPs that he give fresh evidence to the culture, media and sport select committee, arguing that he has nothing new to say about his response to an early warning about corruption at the IAAF.
The committee issued a call for the IAAF president to appear by the end of this month after startling evidence yesterday submitted by David Bedford, which implied contradictions to statements made before the committee by Coe in December 2015.
Damian Collins, MP, chairman of the committee, said that it was “alarming” that crucial information could have been ignored by Coe and that the former two-times Olympic champion needed to clarify what he did and did not know about state-sponsored Russian doping of athletes.
