Happy Christmas 2011

One of my favourite carols is ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ and in
particular the line ‘the hopes and fears of all the years are met in
thee tonight’. As we gather for Christmas, we will have fond memories
of the year past, moments of reflection and reasons to look forward to
2012.

Looking back at 2011, I would highlight the celebration of the Royal
Wedding in The Square in Elham, the buzz of excitement in Folkestone
around the Triennial, the Hythe Venetian fete and our trips with the
children to Dymchurch beach in the summer. In Parliament our epic
committee hearings with the Murdochs will live long in the memory.
Next year, the London Olympics and the torch relay coming to Shepway
on 18th July will be a real highlight.

Along with Sarah, Claudia and Hugo, I would like to wish you best
wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
