The regeneration of Folkestone's harbour is one of my key priorities

I believe our area can be one of the big success stories over the next few years as the economy continues to recover. There are already lots of positive signs of this being the case. I am running for re-election as I want to build on what we have already achieved and to drive the area forward as a champion of the jobs, investment and progress that underpin our prosperity.

Folkestone’s seafront redevelopment will soon be under way. This is a key priority for me and I have worked closely with the harbour company and the South East Local Enterprise Partnership to secure the £5million of grant funding that has enabled the project to get moving. The redevelopment will be another fantastic plus for the town; the success of the regeneration of Folkestone’s old town is clear for all to see and the new Creative Quarter is doing a remarkable job of attracting investment and opportunities to the area.

Workmen have been hard at work since the beginning of the year, fixing up and regenerating the harbour arm and transforming it into a fantastic new public space. I was invited to take a look at the progress that's been made  and took a film crew down to capture the remarkable contrast between what was there before, and what the harbour arm is about to become.
