England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Colin Graves and chief executive Tom Harrison will be quizzed by a panel of backbench MPs about how they plan to build on the success of the Cricket World Cup in Westminster on Oct 23.
Chaired by Damian Collins, the digital, culture, media and sport committee has built a reputation for holding the executives of British sport to account, so Graves and Harrison will need to come armed with answers. Collins said last month that the main question would be how cricket’s national governing body intends to harness the huge public interest generated by England’s World Cup heroics and the ongoing Ashes series to boost grass-roots participation in the sport.
