The doctor at the centre of the “Jiffy bag” investigation into Sir Bradley Wiggins has pulled out of today’s parliamentary hearing, claiming illness, as he was about to be questioned about treatments administered to the 2012 Tour de France champion.
Richard Freeman, a former Team Sky doctor who now works for British Cycling, said that he had been told on medical advice not to attend the culture, media and sport select committee, which is seeking to discover the contents of the “medical package” administered to Wiggins in France in June 2011.
